Description

The Redwood Valley Railway is a 15 inch gauge Steam railway. The railway is internationally recognized as one of the premier "5 inch scale" narrow gauge railways of the world. The current roster consists of four operating steam locomotives. It was established in 1952 by Erich Thomsen, and has expanded to over 1.25 miles of track and over 160,000 passengers a year. Our Mission has been to introduce and preserve the legacy of narrow gauge railroading, for the enjoyment of generations of visitors and Bay Area railroad enthusiasts. The RVRY has done this through creating a scale recreation of a Pacific Coast Narrow Gauge Railroad environment.
The Locomotives & equipment have been meticulously built to look like Baldwin locomotives and rolling stock from 1875 to 1910. The right-of-way is lined with more than 600 coast redwood trees, specifically planted by the railway.
