Obstetrics & Perinatal Specialties at Mission Bay — Fourth Street provides care for both routine and high-risk pregnancies. One of the benefits of obstetrical care at UCSF is that should the need arise, high-risk care can be provided seamlessly. This is because high-risk specialists work side by side with other providers, as one team. In addition, patients also benefit from access to all the resources of UCSF Medical Center.

Our Birth Center is both state of the art and family oriented. The private birthing suites have bathrooms with spa-like bathrubs, dedicated family areas and a media wall offering access to education and entertainment. Patients typically labor, deliver and recover there. After your recovery, you and your baby move to a private postpartum room, with your own bathroom and shower and dedicated family areas with Wi-Fi and a sleeper sofa.

Should your newborn need special medical care, we have one of the nation's finest intensive care nurseries. The nursery is certified by the state of California as a Regional Intensive Care Nursery, meaning it provides all levels of newborn care.
